Primary Years Programme
Primary Years Programme
Our Primary program extends students’ Early Years foundation by challenging students with increasingly complex, real-world concepts and projects to drive their learning. Teachers plan transdisciplinary units of inquiry that integrate traditional subject areas, and there is an increased emphasis on empowering students to guide their own, independent learning.
In an inquiry-based learning environment, English serves as a gateway for exploration, creativity, and understanding. Teachers and students alike find pleasure in utilising English, valuing its dual role in functionality and development. It plays a crucial role in meaning construction, offering an intellectual framework that fosters conceptual growth and encourages critical thinking across all subject areas.
The English curriculum is structured into three segments: Speaking and Listening, Reading, and Writing. Students cultivate their interest in reading by engaging with grade-level appropriate texts and enhance their speaking skills through daily discussions, debates, and presentations. Additionally, there is an extended emphasis on the writing process by utilising selected U.K. National Curriculum standards. The class learning objectives are supported through the implementation of programs that include text-based books and online resources. In addition to reading materials that are provided by the school, students are also assessed regularly in reading, comprehension, and fluency by the Fountas & Pinnell Reading Benchmark Assessment System.

“The way that teachers teach me is a brand new way. The program is more communication-based and the small classes help students get to know each other better.”
